A sturdy blade made of laminated cobalt steel doesn&#8217;t just mean stable function, you&#8217;ll quickly notice that the edge holds its sharpness very well without being brittle. The reason is the thin, well heat-treated and tempered steel, but also the convex-shaped edge that is not only strong, but also sharp like wood. The ergonomic shape of the handle provides a secure grip, whatever the weather and wind.<\/p>\n<p>As shown in the design, the <strong>TF1<\/strong> is a handmade knife with a Desert Ironwood handle (lat. Olneya tesota). This species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and is therefore legal to use. Like all natural materials, it varies in texture and color, making each knife an individual creation. A beautifully veined pattern may look attractive, but a straight, patterned handle is actually sturdier. Desert Ironwood, which grows in the southwest of the United States, has a rather peculiar quality &#8211; it is heavier than water, its density is 1.2 kg\/dm\u00b3, which means that it sinks. If you want to maintain or even increase the shine on the wood, treat it with log oil, furniture oil, bench oil or another type of wood oil containing linseed oil. The fact that the blade passes through the full width of the handle (called a full tang blade) results in a very strong and reliable construction and gives the knife a comfortable weight.<\/p>\n<p>The sheaths: What&#8217;s a bit special about these knives is the very secure plastic sheath, where a specially designed locking system ensures that the knife is properly locked when placed in the sheath.
