Product Description

The Ant is the most compact of Extrema Ratio‘s folding knives. Despite its small size, this model has an extremely robust, resistant, and reliable structure. The handle is composed of two different elements: the grip is made of anodized anticorodal aluminum, and the tempered steel frame that functions as the blade locking mechanism (Frame Lock System). Part of the frame is folded inward to securely lock the blade when open, thus increasing operator safety during use. There is a groove on the handle for inserting a lanyard, and on the right side of the handle, there is a steel clip that allows the knife to be concealed inside the pocket.

The Ant is available in 4 versions with two different types of steel provided by Böhler, an Austrian company with which Extrema Ratio has collaborated for over 20 years, using their time-tested materials to produce their blades. Ant Black and Ant Black Stone Washed are made of Böhler N690 steel, hardened to 58 HRC for a better balance between edge retention and toughness; this is a type of steel used by Extrema Ratio for most of its knives. Rescue Red Stone Washed M390 and Black Stone Washed M390 are made of Böhler M390 steel heat treated to 61 HRC which, thanks to powder metallurgy production processes, ensures cutting efficiency, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance over time.

The sheep’s foot-shaped blade is equipped with a small groove on the top for easy opening. Its particular structure, thanks to the straight edge, allows the user to comfortably rest their fingers on the back of the knife and use it smoothly. The Ant Rescue, unlike the other 3 versions, has a red handle that allows the operator to find the knife more easily in case of a fall. This version is equipped with a specific serration that allows cutting ropes and even extremely strong aramid materials.

This model also features a tapered rod that acts as an emergency screwdriver. Thanks to these features, the Ant Rescue was selected by the ‘Italian Army Alpine Troops School’ to be part of their equipment. The Extrema Ratio Ant is available in the following versions:
